Shoes ❤️❤️❤️

So this week has been a bit up and down. Last weekend my landlord announced that he might not sell my flat after all which meant I then had a bit of a wobble for a couple of days wondering if I'm doing the right thing. However, this did only last a couple of days and to reinforce that this trip wil be fab, I decided up splash out on the new pair of walking shoes I'd been looking at. They're Columbia Womens Ventrailia Razor OutDry Hiking Shoes and the photo makes them look a little brighter than they are but I'm in love with them!!


How pretty are they?! Was a bit concerned buying them online but after retrieving them from completely the wrong floor in my building where the postman had taken them, tried them on and they are perfect!

This week, my iPad mini keyboard arrived as well. Am super-chuffed with it. 


With the nightmare that was this week's election, it turns out that shopping therapy really does work. Now off to order the travel trousers from the Mountain Warehouse website after the lady in the Regent Street Shop today told me the closest shop holding a pair is in Canada!

Familiarity breeds contempt...

...or so the saying goes. But sometimes, being amongst familiar does exactly the opposite. Today is one of those days.  I'm currently in Györ; I got the train here from Tata. I had planned to get the train from Tovaroskert which is the station that was closest to where I was staying the last couple of days. I'd walked there yesterday as I hadn't seen ticket office when I'd arrived (hadn't looked to be honest) so I knew where to get the ticket as I'd be cutting a bit fine wth the train I had planned to get, but when I got to the station this morning, the ticket office was closed ((I know, I should have bought it yesterday...). Entertainment on the go

At the time I started writing this blog post, according to my BA app I have 6 days, 5 hours and 26 minutes until my flight to Buenos Aires. The flight time is estimated to be 13 hours and 55 minutes and given the size of Argentina and Brazil (the two biggest countries I'm traveling around), is fairly representative of the long journeys that will be involved in my South American Adventure. To save money, around Eastern Europe I'd downgraded to the free version of Spotify to listen to some tunes, but their New Year offer of three months for 99p has meant I've splashed out and upgraded back to the Premium version (which I'll likely continue until the end of the trip depending on data/wifi availability). I'd had a playlist that I tended to listen to interspersed with various Spotify playlists and specific artists that I'd go for depending on my mood. Another great detour!

Today marks the two thirds completed milestone for my trip! I'm currently in Suceava and should be visiting the painted monasteries that this area is famed for. However, yesterday on my way to one of them, I managed to pull a muscle in my calf and after an unbelievably painful journey back to the hostel via the pharmacist for painkillers and supermarket for supplies (including frozen peas...) I've been laid up in bed resting said calf. Am gutted I'll miss the monasteries, this is why I'm here after all! But such is life and the medical advice from the lovely Shalini has been fab and it's definitely improving so hopefully I won't be hindered by my injury for too long. In case you were wondering, I did it just walking down the road. I'd slipped a few days ago and it was twinging a little and then yesterday, when crossing the road something felt like it popped in my calf and the pain was excruciating.
