First post!

Over the last year, I have been acting up into my Line Manager's job whilst she's been on maternity leave. For one reason and another it's not been the easiest of years but there's a silver lining to every cloud. In this case it was the fact that I have been receiving an acting up allowance! Now given that I'm in my early 40s and still renting, for most (including me for a while) this injection of funds would enable the saving of a deposit for a house. The  problem is, I'm not a settler. I struggle with commitment to the point that I find getting an annual travel card a challenge and so when my landlord told me he was thinking of selling my house, having this chunk of cash in the bank, made me yearn to spend it visiting parts of the world I've never seen, but have always longed to visit. Work agreeing to me having a year career break enabled me to realise these ambitions and so I gave up all thoughts of buying a pile of bricks and mortar and headed to the travel section of the library!
Initially I was thinking of just traveling around Europe, but it's just too expensive... And so my longing to travel to Argentina kicked in and I decided to have a short stint in Eastern Europe (Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria) while traveling to Europe is still easy, followed by Christmas at my parent's and then five months in South America; three of them in Argentina.
I'm now in the process of logistics. I'm a Project Manager and so planning is in my DNA, but planning for my trip is one of my most and least favourite aspects at the same time. I want to be spontaneous (definitely not in my nature!) but I also recognise that I need to have some kind of an idea what I'm going to do (which sees me reverting to type). This time however, I have some additional logistics which involves putting my stuff in storage, the planning for which is tomorrow's job!
Anyway, through this blog I will share with you my plans and my experiences over the next year. I feel so fortunate to be able to do this, I want to be able to share it with others. I hope you'll enjoy my journey too!
